Pyrite Stone

What is a Pyrite Stone?

The word Pyrite was derived from the Greek word “Pyr”, meaning fire. This can be linked to Pyrite’s masculine energy. It is said to be masculine because of its protective and strong nature. Scientifically, Pyrite is a mineral formed from iron and sulfur (FeS₂). This combination gives Pyrite its natural golden hue, inviting the warmth of the Sun and the courage of Mars (Mangal).

The Pyrite is also said to be a powerful stone because it activates the Solar Plexus Chakra (Manipura). Many people use it to meditate, while others harness the powers of this exceptional stone to bring more wealth and prosperity into their lives. Famous for its protective energy, Pyrite not only helps in manifesting material success but also shields against negative forces.

Pyrite Stone Benefits

Before getting into Pyrite’s benefits, you need to know that Pyrite is unlike other gemstones. In fact, it is not a gemstone at all, but a mineral that is believed to resonate with the vibrations of the universe itself. That is why you often hear people say that a Pyrite bracelet or a Pyrite crystal in general brings money. However, that is just the tip of the iceberg. Given below are numerous benefits that are associated with the Pyrite stone:

Wealth and Abundance

We should be starting with Pyrite’s wealth and abundance benefits since they are the most well-known blessings of Pyrite.

• Pyrite is said to attract wealth and prosperity. In many cultures, it is even termed as “Stone of Prosperity.”
• Whether a student or a businessman, wearing a Pyrite bracelet opens new doors of opportunities for you in business and career.
• It shifts from a scarcity mindset to a creation mindset. Instead of “Why can’t I?”, you are filled with “I wish to.” That’s when the magic happens.
• Walking on the path that Pyrite shows you with drive and effort will attract wealth and abundance in your life. However, if you just wear Pyrite and wait for things to happen by themselves, you are just wasting your and the stone’s potential.

Blessings from Sun

Since Pyrite is linked to the Sun (Surya), wearing it invites warm benedictions of the life-giver into your life. It grants you confidence, courage, and energy that help you become a leader and lead life with clarity and direction. These traits help people with:

• Building a successful life with less self-doubt.
• Seeking recognition, respect, and authority in any field, be it work or social life.
• Improving decision-making skills.
• Becoming a leader.
• Helping the wearer stand firm, speak confidently, and take charge of their life.

Blessings from Mars

Pyrite is even believed to resonate with the qualities of Mars (Mangal). The planet of strength, courage, and action supports you:

• With willpower during challenges.
• Determination to follow through with goals instead of always procrastinating.
• Physical stamina and vitality.
• Emotional stability during stressful times.
• Clear and fearless decision-making.

Protection from Negative Energies

Sometimes negative energies don’t ever let you work without feeling down or like your work is some big, unfair task. To these people, Pyrite is highly suggested by astrologers and pundits.

• Since the Pyrite can destroy negativity inside and outside, it helps you bring back the drive to be an achiever.
• It protects you from jealousy and malice (Buri Nazar).
• Pyrite protects you from stressful and toxic environments.
• Protects you from office politics and manipulative behaviour.
• Helps you avoid emotional exhaustion.
• If you are someone who has a lot of electronic devices around you that radiate EMFs (Electromagnetic force), then you are also suggested to carry the Pyrite stone with you. Since EMFs are known for slowly killing brain cells, Pyrite absorbs these rays and protects you from being affected by them.

Chakra Benefits

Pyrite is used in many meditation practices because of the way it influences your chakra. Read below to learn how Fool’s Gold benefits your chakra:

• It helps you activate the Solar Plexus, also known as the Manipura chakra. Due to its fiery properties, the Pyrite helps you resonate with your own fiery energy.
• The Solar Plexus holds in itself factors like money, fame, name, and success. So, wearing the Pyrite stone will show you the direction in which you get all the abundance.
• In addition to that, the Pyrite stone also helps balance the Crown chakra (Sahasara). Balancing this chakra helps you live more consciously and stay in touch with divine awareness.

Factors Affecting Pyrite’s Price and Quality

Colour

The colour and texture of a stone affect its price directly. Original and untreated Pyrite will look naturally radiant and have a golden, brassy shine. Hence, making it more costly compared to treated Pyrite stones that are too shiny or too dull due to artificial coating or excess moisture. Also, avoid buying Pyrite that is pale-yellow; you might find stones like these at a lower cost, but at the risk of them being fake counterparts.

Clarity and Texture

In terms of clarity and texture, a good Pyrite looks and feels solid. Being an opaque mineral, the light can’t pass through it. The stones that have a brassy-yellow, glistening metallic shine are sold at more costly prices compared to the ones that have a dull or painted appearance. So next time, while paying for a Pyrite stone, you should know exactly what to look for and how much to pay for it.

Carat Weight

Carat weight naturally affects the price of any gemstone that you are out to buy. It makes sense that the higher the weight of the stone, the higher its price will be. Other than the weight of stone, this is also because larger and well-shaped stones that are untreated are usually rarer to find.

Origin

At present, Russia, Spain, and Peru are the largest contributors to the Pyrite market. In addition to that, India’s Bihar yields almost 90% of the total production of this stone, making the Pyrite produced in these regions much more valuable and expensive.

Treatment & Enhancements

Untreated and natural Pyrite is sold at a much higher price compared to the ones that are coated or treated for more shine. That is because artificial Pyrite is very common in the market, and it is not very strong in terms of vibes and energy. We would suggest if you see any sellers selling Pyrite stone or jewellery that is colour-coated or treated with metallic paint, you should avoid it.

Cut & Shape

A well and precisely cut Pyrite with a higher number of facets sells at a higher price than a raw piece of the same stone. Especially, a well-faceted oval cabochon of Pyrite is more valuable than any other form.

Authenticity Certification

Authenticity Certification affects the price of the Pyrite in a very minor manner. It’s as easy as understanding that a genuine stone that has been tested and passed for authenticity will sell for a higher price than a stone that has never been tested. Plus, if the stone has never been tested by International Gemological labs, there is a very high chance that it would be a cheap copy.

Pyrite Price Range in India

The Original Pyrite price in India ranges from ₹100 - ₹400 per carat. This price excludes the cost of craftsmanship. Whether you are buying a Pyrite ring, a Pyrite bracelet, or just the stone to keep at home, it will be one of the major factors affecting the price of the Pyrite you are buying. Otherwise, a natural Pyrite stone is available in the price range of ₹100 - ₹400 per carat.

How to Clean Pyrite

• Do not soak the pyrite in water or wash it with water many times, since this can make it rusty, oxidise, and lose its shine.
• When you find the stone dirty, clean it by using a microfiber cloth dipped in soapy water.
• Clean it once more by wiping it with a soft, damp cloth, removing all soap from it.
• Immediately dry the stone.
• Do not wear your pyrite jewellery (bracelet, pendant, among others) when taking a bath or washing, as the stone might oxidize and develop rust due to frequent contact with moisture.

Pyrite Care Instructions

• From time to time, it is good to cleanse pyrite by leaving it out in the sun for some hours.
• It can also be cleansed through the use of sage, incense, and palo santo smoke.
• Keep it away from water and chemicals because the stone has iron and sulphur content, which can cause it to oxidize.
• Always keep the pyrite jewellery in a soft bag or cover it using a soft cloth when not using it to protect it from getting scratched.
